I would say definitely yes, if you would like to have a dog that is loyal, devoted and courageous. They are also tolerant, so they are the perfect pets for a family even with small children. The Scottish Deerhound can get on well with other dogs and pets – except for really little ones – in the house as well. This breed requires a lot of exercise, so at least a daily walk or run is advised. They are the happiest with a large, fenced yard where they can play and run all day.

The coat of the Scottish Deerhound is short, shaggy and wiry that requires very little, occasional care with a firm brush. They are average shedders. Sadly, this breed has a relatively short lifespan: 8-9 years and they are prone to health issues like bone cancer, bloat or torsion.
