Scottish Deerhounds are quite quick and can run so fast that all one can see is a blurry streak. With this great ability, a sport that involves speed is a good event for them. But take into account that these dogs are sight hounds meaning that they use their sense of sight to track their prey and chase after them with rapid speed. With these two components, lure coursing is the perfect sport for the canine. Lure coursing imitates the chase of the rabbit by the dog around a course. This uses a lure that appears to be an artificial rabbit and is pulled by a motor and pulley system. The dogs are lined either twos or threes, wearing clothes that are assigned to them for the audience viewing and the chase begins. Scoring of the event is done by would crosses the finish line first and tallied to determine which dog acquired the most points to take the gold.
